I believe hostess coaching is the most important part of any party. 4 calls and a checklist and my hostesses are ready to rock and roll.  
 
One key thing I do- Give my hostess a form that asks for name, address, phone #, email, best time to reach and 3 possible party dates. I tell her that for each one of these she has completely filled out before her party starts, I will count them as a booking for her party.
 
I like this because I have all the info instead of "oh, Susie Smith wants a party- give her a call".
